Pankaj’s Review of a Memorable French Escape with Thrillophilia

France has always held a special place in our hearts because of a memory we created on our first date while watching a movie set in Paris. As the Eiffel Tower twinkled on the screen, we made a pinky promise: “Someday, we will see it in person.” Over the years, that promise became a thing that we would bring up with a smile whenever life got a bit too monotonous.

Then came early 2025. It was our anniversary month, and something about this year felt different - like we needed to hit pause and breathe. And just like that, our hearts set sail before we even booked the tickets. A few clicks later, our long-awaited French adventure with Thrillophilia was in motion.

And let me tell you one thing: it was the BEST. DECISION. EVER.

Bonjour Amsterdam!

We began our European adventure in Amsterdam. While our hearts were already set on France, the canal cruise on our very first evening was the perfect curtain-raiser. Floating under softly lit bridges, sipping on warm drinks while gliding past pointed townhouses, felt surreal. Amsterdam had its quiet charm, but the real magic was yet to come.

The next day, we explored the hauntingly beautiful Anne Frank House and walked through the heart of WWII history. It was humbling. My wife and I held hands tighter than usual. Some places do that to you.

By Day 3, we were aboard the high-speed Thalys train through which we watched the Dutch countryside blur into the French dreamscape. Our hearts raced as we crossed into Paris. The City of Lights was finally within reach.

Every Place in Paris Whispered Romance

The moment we stepped out of the train at Gare du Nord, there was an electric buzz in the air. Paris was indeed a feeling. Our hotel was situated in a cosy little street, with a bakery right across the road. The smell of fresh croissants every morning was absolute heaven.

Our Paris exploration kicked off with the Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour. It was the perfect way to soak in the beauty without rushing. The Louvre, Notre Dame, Champs-Élysées – each place was more stunning than the last. We stopped often, walked lazily, clicked countless photos, and lived every moment. My wife could not stop humming French tunes, she did not even know the words to. That is the thing about Paris – it infects you with joy.

The Eiffel Tower visit, though, was the true highlight. We had reserved access, so there were no long waits. As we reached the summit, the city stretched beneath us like a living painting. My wife looked at me with tears in her eyes and whispered, "This is everything I dreamed of." I squeezed her hand and just smiled.

Later that evening, we took a slow river cruise on the Seine. Lights danced on the water, couples whispered sweet nothings, and we just sat in silence, overwhelmed with gratitude. Paris had wrapped us in its arms.

A Day at Disneyland & A Little Magic of Our Own

We decided to relive our childhood dreams with a day at Disneyland Paris. To be honest, I was not expecting much. But boy, was I wrong! From the moment we walked through the gates, we were wide-eyed and giggling like teenagers.

We screamed on roller coasters, danced with characters, and took a hundred selfies with Cinderella's castle. At one point, while watching the parade, my wife turned to me and said, "This feels like our second honeymoon." And that is exactly what it was.

By the time we returned to our hotel that night, we were exhausted but glowing with joy. France had a fun and goofy side, too.

Swiss Journey Through Mountains, Chocolate, and Serenity

After four magical days in France, we made our way to Switzerland. The train ride to Zurich was as scenic as you would expect – snow-kissed peaks, dreamy little villages, and vast open meadows. Zurich was pristine and elegant, and a contrast to the bustling charisma of Paris.

Mount Titlis was pure winter fantasy. We rode the rotating cable car, played in the snow like kids, and even built a snowman! Later, we wandered through Lucerne while sipping hot cocoa and admiring the charming architecture.

Interlaken and Grindelwald gave us a taste of alpine tranquillity. And the Rhine Falls? Simply jaw-dropping. We stood in awe of nature’s power, getting steamed up by the roaring waters, before heading to the Lindt Home of Chocolate. Let us just say we returned with more chocolate than clothes!

Saying, Au Revoir... With a Heart Full of Memories

As our trip neared its end, we took one last walk by Lake Zurich. The sun was setting and casting a golden hue on the still waters. I looked at my wife, her cheeks rosy from the cold, her eyes sparkling with contentment, and I knew this trip had done something beautiful for us.

It reconnected us.

We laughed louder, loved deeper, and lived fully. And Thrillophilia? You guys made it all so seamless. Every detail, every booking, every transfer was perfect. No hiccups, just happiness.

As we boarded our flight home on March 7, there was a lump in my throat. I was not ready to leave. France, especially Paris, had taken a piece of our hearts.

Would we recommend this trip? In a heartbeat.

To anyone reading this and dreaming of France – go. Just go. Let Paris work its magic. Let it remind you of love, of laughter, of light.

Because sometimes, a little escape is all you need to come back to life.
