Simerjit’s family is a fun and adventurous group that loves spending quality time together, engaging in activities, trekking, exploring, and most importantly, creating lasting memories. So, last year, they decided to embark on a dream journey to two incredible destinations: Greece and Turkey.

Simerjit had always been drawn to the amazing history, beautiful scenery, and lively cultures of these countries. She dreamed of walking through Istanbul’s old streets and sunbathing on Santorini’s beaches.She wanted to take her daughter on this adventure and wanted to bond and explore new cultures and heritage.

Simerjit was overjoyed by the idea and couldn’t wait to set off on this remarkable journey. For her, it was more than just a vacation—it was an opportunity to make cherished memories with her loved ones while exploring the places she had always dreamed of visiting, and the task of arranging this dream was entrusted to Thrillophilia.

Turkey’s Ancient Wonders & Enchanting Experiences

Simerjit’s trip to Turkey was a blend of rich history, vibrant culture, and unforgettable experiences. The family began their adventure in Istanbul, exploring iconic landmarks like the Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace, which mesmerised them with their glorious history. Their guide was quite fun and shared many historical facts which left them awestruck. Her daughter was especially thrilled to learn fascinating stories about ancient civilisations while admiring the intricate architectural details.

A standout moment was their Bosphorus dinner cruise. Gliding through the beautiful Bosphorus Strait, the city’s sparkling skyline reflecting on the tranquil waters added to the charm of the cruise. The evening was further enhanced by delicious Turkish cuisine, soft music, and fun chatter—making it an experience they will treasure forever.

Another highlight of their trip was the Whirling Dervishes' performance at Hodjapasha. This traditional Sufi dance deeply moved the family, offering a spiritual and artistic glimpse into Turkey’s cultural heritage.

The adventure continued with a day trip to Bursa, where they enjoyed a scenic cable car ride over the Uludağ mountains. The panoramic views of the lush landscape left them in awe. The family also explored bustling local markets, where they discovered unique Turkish products, from handcrafted items to traditional sweets.

Every moment of their journey through Turkey was thoughtfully curated, offering a perfect balance of cultural exploration and relaxation. The seamless blend of ancient treasures and modern charm made Turkey a truly magical destination for Simerjit and her family.

The Monumental City of Athens

Their next country was their dream destination - Greece! Their trip began with the enchanting city of Athens. They went on the guided city tour and immersed themselves in a day filled with learning about the rich history and heritage of the city. Their first stop was the Acropolis Museum and standing before the iconic Parthenon, they were awestruck by the grandeur and architectural brilliance of this ancient wonder. Their appreciation grew more after seeing the remarkable collection of artefacts from ancient times, showcasing the legacy of a bygone era. From the hilltop, they enjoyed sweeping panoramic views of Athens, a city where the past and present coexist seamlessly.

Another highlight of their trip was a day excursion to Delphi, a place known for its historical and spiritual significance. Nestled amidst picturesque mountains, the ancient site offered a timeless charm. Walking through the ruins, including the revered Temple of Apollo, they felt an almost palpable connection to history. The surrounding landscape of rolling hills and verdant greenery made the experience all the more memorable.

As their Athens trip came to an end, Simerjit’s daughter summed up the sentiment perfectly: “Mom, this city is so old, but it’s still so beautiful and mesmerising!”

During their time in Athens, Simerjit and her family were deeply touched by the beauty of the city and the irresistible flavours of Greek cuisine. One dish that stood out was dolmades, the savoury rice dish, which quickly became a family favourite. Exploring Athens felt like stepping back in time, surrounded by awe-inspiring landmarks and the echoes of ancient history. The blend of stunning sights especially the Acropolis museum and the rich cultural heritage created an experience that wasn’t just a trip but a collection of cherished memories they will hold onto forever.

The Island Fun: Mykonos & Santorini

The next leg of their journey was an unforgettable island tour of Greece, taking them to the world-famous destinations of Mykonos and Santorini. For Simerjit, this was the highlight of the trip—it had always been her dream to visit these pristine islands. In Mykonos, they were captivated by the island’s iconic charm. The streets, lined with white houses, vibrant bougainvillaea, and striking blue shades, seemed like they were placed straight out of a postcard. Simerjit and her daughter made the experience even more special by dressing in matching white outfits, blending beautifully with the surroundings and adding a stylish touch to their adventure.

Their visit to the vibrant Little Venice district was marvellous. Colourful waterfront houses created a stunning, rainbow-like backdrop. A literal photographer’s paradise! 

They spent hours wandering through the charming alleys of Mykonos Town, browsing unique local boutiques, and savoring the island's culinary delights. A standout dish for Simerjit was the kopanisti dish, a spicy local cheese spread. Its creamy texture and bold flavours made it her instant favourite.The adventure continued as they boarded a ferry to Santorini. Upon arrival, they were greeted by breathtaking views of the island’s dramatic cliffs and the endless blue waters.

Their most memorable activity in Santorini was cruising around the famous Caldera. Sailing through the pristine waters, they marvelled at the volcanic landscapes, a natural wonder that left them in awe. The Santorini Thermal Springs provided another unique experience. Soaking in the warm, mineral-rich waters was both soothing and rejuvenating, a perfect way to relax and connect with the island’s natural beauty. It turned out to be one of the most relaxing and beautiful trips, and Simerjit’s love for beaches grew tenfold!

Their trip was a symphony of adventures, exploration, and memorable mother-daughter time. The trip wasn’t just about the places they visited but also the connections they made—with the landscapes, the vibrant cultures, and each other. It was more than a vacation; it was a journey of discovery, joy, and shared wonder.
