I was sitting on the balcony and scrolled through travel photos online, while my mom folded laundry beside me. While looking at the picture of the Eiffel Tower lit up at night, I suddenly said, “What if we finally take that European trip?”

My mom looked surprised and then smiled.

That was it. We were not going to keep putting it off.

Within a week, we connected with Thrillophilia, and their team, especially Aman, helped us craft an itinerary that covered all the places we had once daydreamed about: Paris, Venice, Lucerne, Amsterdam, Rome…

And then finally, in June 2024, we boarded our flight with hearts full of anticipation and eyes already misty with excitement.

City of Lights, Laughter, and Long-Awaited Moments

Touching down in Paris felt like stepping into a painting I had seen a thousand times. Our first evening was peaceful with a warm Indian dinner, some laughter with fellow travellers, and a slow walk back to the hotel.

But it was the next day when the magic began.

When we stood beneath the Eiffel Tower, my mom clutched my hand tightly. “I used to see this in black-and-white textbooks,” she whispered in a breaking voice. “Now I am standing in front of it… I can’t believe this!”

We clicked a hundred photos, yet nothing captured how it truly felt.

Later, we lost ourselves among the masterpieces at the Louvre. But it was the Seine River cruise that left the deepest impression. As our boat floated past glowing bridges and golden architecture, I caught my mom humming a song (one I had not heard in years). I leaned my head on her shoulder. In that quiet moment, I did not care how fast time was passing. I was just glad we had stopped to live this.

The next day was meant for either Disneyland or leisure, and we chose the latter. We strolled the boulevards, tasted buttery croissants, and sat at a tiny corner café where Mom attempted a “Bonjour” and got a wink and a warm smile in return. It was the Paris she had always imagined, and she was in it.

Through Waffles and Windmills

On Day 4, we crossed into Belgium while stopping at the vibrant Grand Place in Brussels. We laughed at the quirky Manneken Pis statue, explored the grandeur of St. Michael’s Church, and posed near the futuristic Atomium.

But the moment I will never forget was us standing in the middle of a narrow cobbled street and sharing a piping hot Belgian waffle loaded with chocolate. My mom bit into hers and closed her eyes, “It is like heaven on a plate,” she said, her joy was so pure that it made me laugh.

We reached Amsterdam later that evening. The canals, the bridges, and the tilted buildings looked magical.

The next day, we picked Zaanse Schans over the Tulip Garden (not in bloom). Watching wooden clogs being carved, cheese being aged, and the windmills turning slowly under grey skies was like walking through a living museum.

Later, during the canal cruise through the city, we both sat silently and soaked in the peacefulness. The gentle ripples and the golden hour light reminded me that sometimes, stillness is the most beautiful kind of movement.

Cathedrals, Forests, and the Magic of Snow

Day 6 took us to Cologne, where the Cathedral towered above us. My mom stood there and said, “Imagine how many prayers these walls must have heard.”

That night, we stayed in Frankfurt. Our conversations at dinner had shifted. We no longer talked about what we had left behind in India, but about the people we met, the accents we tried to copy, and the souvenirs we wanted to buy.

Then we visited Switzerland.

As we travelled through the Black Forest and beside the roaring Rhine Falls, I saw a sparkle in Mom’s eyes that reminded me of my childhood.

But nothing compared to the beauty of Mount Titlis.

As we ascended in the rotating cable car, snowflakes moved around us. At the top, I saw my mom building a snowman with her gloves half on and her laughter ringing. “I have not seen snow since I was a teenager,” she smiled.

We walked the Cliff Walk and later warmed up with Swiss hot chocolate in Lucerne. The Lion Monument, the lake cruise, and the old wooden Chapel Bridge were also mesmerising.

From Fairy-Tale Towns to Floating Cities

In Vaduz, we boarded a small tram and rode through a place that looked too perfect to be real. Next, the Swarovski Crystal World dazzled us, followed by the historic charm of Innsbruck, Austria. The Golden Roof shimmered in the afternoon light as street musicians played melodies.

By the time we reached Venice, my feet were sore, but my spirit was high. The city was a painting of blue water and stone bridges.

As our Vaporetto made its way through the canal waters that evening, my mom whispered, “This is exactly how I imagined it...”

We skipped the gondola ride for budget reasons, but walking through St. Mark’s Square, seeing the Doge’s Palace, and crossing the Bridge of Sighs was enough. I kept stealing glances at her, wondering if she was here or if I was dreaming it.

A Leaning Tower and One Final Sunset

We drove through Tuscany to Pisa next, and yes, we did the cliché leaning-tower photos. But what stood out was our visit to Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence, where we stood watching the city under the pink blush of sunset. My mom turned to me and said, “This whole trip... I feel like I am living a second youth.”

The final stop was Rome, and honestly, it was grand. We explored the Vatican, stood breathless in the Sistine Chapel, and stared up at St. Peter’s Basilica with respect.

As we drove past the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and Piazza Venezia, I was overwhelmed.

On our last night in Rome, we sat on the balcony of our hotel room. We talked about the pace of the trip. Beaches, greenery, decent food, maybe some history. Nothing too hectic.

Thrillophilia’s Sri Lanka package looked manageable on paper, though there was still that usual pre-trip confusion about luggage weight and medicines and whether Sri Lankan food would suit everyone. Sunny from the team kept helping with those small things that somehow become big things before departure.

The trip started in Colombo after a long flight from Varanasi. By the time they reached the hotel, everyone was too tired to explore properly. One person still insisted on going downstairs for tea at nearly midnight because “new country mein first chai toh banti hai.” The tea tasted different. Slightly stronger. Nobody could decide if they liked it or not.

The next morning changed the mood completely.

Somewhere Between Kandy and Pinnawala

The road to Kandy had those endless green stretches people usually post online, but honestly, what stayed with them more was a roadside fruit stall where the driver stopped for king coconut water. It was humid, slightly sticky weather, and that drink fixed everyone’s mood instantly.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage was crowded. School groups everywhere. Still, watching the elephants walk towards the water together had something calming about it. One elephant kept spraying water at random people standing too close. Prabhat Ranjan Sinha almost escaped. Almost.

Kandy itself felt quieter than expected. In the evening, they drove around the lake while lights slowly appeared around the city. Later came the Kandyan dance performance. Loud drums, fire acts, sharp movements. Sushil admitted later that he thought it would be “just another cultural program,” but it turned out to be one of the better evenings of the trip.

The hotels were good overall. A little far from the city sometimes, which became mildly irritating after long drives. But then again, those quieter locations also meant waking up to bird sounds instead of traffic, so nobody complained too much.

Ella Was Everyone’s Favourite. Somehow.

Not because it had the most famous attraction. It just felt good there.

The drive itself was half the experience. The tea plantations, the mist sitting lazily on the hills and tiny houses painted blue or pink for no obvious reason.

At one point, the vehicle slowed because a dog refused to move from the middle of the road, and the driver casually said, “He sleeps there every afternoon.”

That became an inside joke for the rest of the trip.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress came before Ella, and the climb was definitely tougher than expected. Halfway through, everyone pretended to admire the view when they were actually just trying to catch their breath. But reaching the top felt satisfying in that very old-school travel way. No fancy café waiting there. Just wind, ruins, and a huge stretch of green land below.

Ella had cooler weather. Ravana Falls was crowded near the entrance, people clicking photos nonstop, but the Nine Arch Bridge area felt calmer once they walked a little further. The tea factory visit was interesting too, mostly because the smell of fresh tea leaves stayed in the air the whole time.

And yes, everyone bought tea packets even after saying they wouldn’t.

Galle, Beaches, and Minor Travel Chaos

By the time they reached the southern coast, the trip had settled into a rhythm. Wake up. Eat slowly. Drive. Stop somewhere scenic. Repeat.

Mirissa Beach was exactly the kind of place where nobody wanted to do much. Just sit quietly and watch the water. Coconut Tree Hill had tourists lined up for photos, which was mildly funny because ten people were trying to create “candid” pictures at the same time.

Galle Fort felt different from the rest of Sri Lanka. Old buildings, sea breeze, tiny cafés hidden inside colonial streets. One evening, they walked around there without checking maps and ended up near the lighthouse just before sunset.

There were a few issues with the vehicle support during parts of the trip. Some delays. A little confusion once. Nothing disastrous, though travel rarely goes perfectly anyway.

Back in Colombo before departure, the group visited places like Gangaramaya Temple and Galle Face Green. But by then, conversations had already shifted toward future trips.

That probably says enough.

Sri Lanka gave them good weather, slower mornings, lots of greenery, and a week where nobody seemed in a hurry for once. Between work calls and meal preps, we’d grown into a version of ourselves that existed more out of habit than intention.

Egypt was meant to be our way of pausing the world—and for the next few days, that’s exactly what it became.

Where the Present Meets Eternity

The first thing you notice about Egypt is its sense of duality. Cairo, with its busy streets and honking cars, feels almost modern—until you glance at the horizon and see the pyramids looming like echoes from another lifetime.

There’s something surreal about standing in front of the Great Pyramid. It’s not just its size; it’s the sense that it exists beyond you. My wife, who usually dives into history books, was oddly quiet, her fingers tracing the stone as if trying to absorb the centuries.

At the Khan El Khalili bazaar, the present collided with traditions. The shopkeepers had perfected the art of the warm hustle—handing you tea, complimenting your taste, and convincing you that their trinkets were the missing pieces of your life. I ended up buying a small copper lamp, more for the memory than anything else.

My wife teased me mercilessly: “You bought magic without the genie?” But when we lit it that night, the patterns it cast on the walls felt magical enough.

Whispers of the Desert

If Cairo was the chaos of humanity, the desert was its silence. The Black and White Deserts were like walking into an abstract painting. At one point, staring at the surreal limestone formations, my wife said, “This feels like being on the moon, except warmer.”

Our guide, Mahmoud, shared stories as we bounced along in the 4x4. He spoke of how the desert changes people—its vastness forcing you to confront yourself. “In the city,” he said, “you are distracted. Here, you meet your soul.”

That night, by the campfire, we laughed like kids. The sand was cold under our feet, but the fire warmed us, and the food—simple but delicious—felt like a feast. My wife joked that this was the first time in years we’d truly unplugged. No emails, no notifications, just the two of us and an endless sky.

The next morning, the sunrise crept over the dunes in slow, golden waves. We sat quietly, holding hands, as the world awakened around us. It felt like a promise—not one we made to each other, but one the desert made to us.

Lessons from the Nile

On the Nile, time slowed. The cruise wasn’t just a mode of travel; it was a gentle reminder to appreciate the in-between. We sat on the deck, watching life unfold along the riverbanks—farmers tending to their fields, children laughing, and women carrying baskets as if balancing centuries of tradition.

The temples we visited along the way were magnificent, but what stayed with me were the smaller moments. At Kom Ombo, a local man showed us an ancient well, explaining how it was used to measure the Nile’s flood levels. He spoke with such pride as if the river were his family.

My favourite memory, though, wasn’t grand or historical. It was during a quiet evening on the cruise. My wife and I played cards on the balcony, sipping hibiscus tea and listening to the gentle splash of the water. At one point, she looked up and said, “This is it. This is what we were searching for.”

The Sea and the Unexpected

By the time we reached Hurghada, we thought we knew Egypt. But the Red Sea introduced us to its playful side. Scuba diving was like stepping into a dream—bright coral reefs, fish in colours I didn’t know existed, and the weightless feeling of being underwater.

My wife, initially nervous, ended up being braver than me. She floated ahead, pointing out a sea turtle with the giddiness of a child. Back on the surface, she teased, “Guess who’s the explorer now?”

Evenings in Hurghada were slower, softer. We wandered through local markets, tasted fresh seafood, and marvelled at how the sea breeze carried a sense of calm.

One night, we stumbled upon a small performance—a group of musicians playing traditional Egyptian tunes. We stayed until the last note, swaying in rhythm with strangers who suddenly felt like friends.

Coming Home Changed

Our last day in Cairo was bittersweet. We found ourselves back on a rooftop, overlooking the city as the sun set. The air was cool, the muezzin’s call echoing softly in the background. My wife turned to me and said, “Do you think Egypt is what we needed?”

I thought about the pyramids, the deserts, the Nile, and the Red Sea. But mostly, I thought about us—how Egypt had given us space to pause, to reconnect, to just be. “No,” I said, smiling. “I think Egypt was more than we ever expected.”

If you’re considering Egypt, don’t just think of the pyramids or the history books. Archana Priyadarshani and Krishna Kumar Sinha came back from their nine days across the island with one of those, and what they said was simple. Good hotels, good places, very green and clean, beautiful beaches. That kind of review only happens when the trip itself never gave them anything to complain about and when nothing on the ground required them to keep notes for later. It is the quiet, satisfied kind of Sri Lanka trip review, and it usually only comes from trips that were properly planned from the start.

Sri Lanka welcomed Archana Priyadarshani and Krishna Kumar Sinha with a Christmas and New Year celebration after they landed in Colombo on the 23rd of December. The route was made of three cultural triangles: the country in the north, the country in the middle, and the southern coast on the way back. Before they left for Sri Lanka, Thrillophilia destination experts handling their booking explained to them the route in detail, about why the order of the route is valid, which transfer took time, and why and how to handle the visa application through the ETA portal on their own.

Dambulla was the soft opening.

The first day of the trip started with their landing in Sigiriya territory after transferring from Colombo Airport, with a stop at Dambulla Cave Temple on the way. The temple premises are situated on the rock face with cave shrines carved into the hillside, and the climb was steep enough to spike the excitement of beginning the trip. The first night was arranged at the Tropical Life Resort and Spa, and Archana mentioned later that the hotel across the whole circuit was quite comfortable and well-located.

Kandy Brought the Cultural Heart of the Trip

The trip to Kandy, which comes the next morning, has a stop at the Sigiriya rock fortress, the type everyone who has had the experience would write about in their reviews. The climb to the summit is about a couple of hours, and the view across the jungle from the top demonstrates why the rock was a royal seat fifteen hundred years ago.

Kandy itself unfolded over the next two days. The Grand Kandyan Hotel as the base, an evening lake drive on arrival, followed by a traditional Kandyan dance performance, and then a full sightseeing day covering the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, and the white Buddha statue at Bahirawakanda Vihara. The Tooth Relic Temple, in particular, sees the kind of quiet reverence from local visitors that gives the whole place a different atmosphere from the standard tourist circuit.

The Hill Country Did What It Was Meant To

Nuwara Eliya is where Sri Lanka suddenly turns greener to attract all the eyes as the traveller suddenly discovers. Tea plantations descend each hill, drifting clouds by day and breathing reasonably crisp night air after the muck of the plains. The journey gradually gained height, and two nights were spent as a base at the Araliya Green City.

The second day started in Nuwara Eliya by visiting Seetha Eliya, Hakgala Gardens, Victoria Park, Gregory Lake, Ramboda Falls and the Hanuman Temple; the last two of which will have more resonance with Ramayana-sensitised tourists than any of the previous horse riding and golf. The third day was spent visiting Ella, the Nine Arch Bridge, and the Ravana Falls, which do most of the heavy lifting on any hill-country itinerary. The tea factory tour in between was the kind of obligatory stop that builds the reputation of Ceylon teas. The chauffeur guide who drove them through these two days handled the winding mountain roads with the ease of someone who has driven them a thousand times, which, on those hairpin bends, matters more than scenery.

The South Coast Brought the Beaches

On the way to Galle, after passing the turn to Ya Nui Beach, where the territory of the coast broadens, the drive continued through Mirissa. The fort of Galle that evening, with its lighthouse, clock tower and Dutch church, lay inside a huge Portuguese leg that looks out onto the broad Indian Ocean. For the overnight, the Radisson Blu Resort was the spot for the staycation; the next morning, they headed towards the north, up to Bentota.

Bentota gave the couple a full day at the beach and a visit to the Kosgoda turtle hatchery. Cinnamon Bey Beruwala is the base, with the kind of resort facilities that make a beach day actually feel like one. Archana's note about Sri Lanka's beaches being beautiful was earned on this stretch, where the coast runs uninterrupted, and the water is the colour the brochures promise.

Colombo Was the Right Way to Close

The last full day was spent exploring Colombo. The sights were Galle Face Green, Gangaramaya Temple, Colombo Fort and the Lotus Tower. Cinnamon Lakeside was the choice of accommodation for the final night.

On the last morning of the trip, the driver dropped the pair at Bandaranaike International, and the trip rounded off exactly how it had started, smoothly and on time. Archana's review afterwards was four lines long. That is the kind of Sri Lanka trip review that does not need any dressing up.

A Journey That Flowed with Ease: Shreya Adhav’s Family Trip to Bangkok and Pattaya with Thrillophilia

Read Shreya Adhav’s Thrillophilia review of her family trip to Bangkok and Pattaya, a journey filled with culture, comfort and experiences.

Thailand Reviews

Arpit Jain

Some family trips are planned around packed schedules and long checklists. Others are shaped quietly by comfort, understanding, and the simple joy of being together. For Shreya Dilipkumar Adhav, travelling with her family to Thailand was about the second kind of journey. It was not about rushing from one attraction to another, but about experiencing a new country without stress, confusion, or constant decision-making.

With four generations travelling together, ease of movement and clear planning mattered more than anything else. Choosing Thrillophilia for this six-day Bangkok and Pattaya tour gave the family exactly that. From airport pickups to sightseeing schedules, everything was laid out in a way that allowed them to enjoy Thailand without worrying about logistics.

A Warm Welcome to Thailand and First Impressions of Pattaya

The journey began with their arrival in Bangkok, where a comfortable private transfer awaited them at Suvarnabhumi Airport. The drive to Pattaya felt smooth and relaxed, giving everyone time to absorb their first glimpses of Thailand, wide roads, tropical greenery, and the subtle shift in pace that comes with travel.

After checking into their hotel in Pattaya, the day unfolded with two experiences that immediately set the tone for the trip. The visit to the Sanctuary of Truth was both calming and impressive. Walking through the intricately carved wooden structure, the family found themselves slowing down, taking in the craftsmanship and the spiritual themes woven into every corner. It felt less like a tourist stop and more like a quiet introduction to Thai culture and philosophy.

The evening brought a complete contrast with the Alcazar Cabaret Show. Bright lights, music, elaborate costumes, and high-energy performances filled the theatre, leaving everyone entertained and pleasantly surprised. It was a lively end to a day that had already offered so much variety.

A Day by the Sea at Coral Island

The next morning, the family set out early for a day trip to Coral Island. The shared transfers and speedboat ride were well-coordinated, making the journey easy even with different age groups travelling together.

As the boat approached the island, the colour of the water changed to clear shades of blue and green, instantly lifting everyone’s mood. Some family members chose to relax on the beach at Tawaen, soaking in the sun and enjoying the sea breeze, while others explored the surroundings and watched water sports unfold along the shore.

What stood out most was how balanced the day felt. There was no pressure to do everything, only the freedom to enjoy the beach at one’s own pace. By the time they returned to Pattaya, the family felt refreshed rather than exhausted, which is often rare after a full-day excursion.

From Coastal Calm to City Lights: Pattaya to Bangkok

Day three marked the transition from Pattaya’s coastal atmosphere to the bustling energy of Bangkok. As the boat glided through the river, Bangkok revealed a softer side. Illuminated temples, bridges, and riverside buildings passed by slowly, creating a peaceful contrast to the city’s daytime rush.

The dinner, music, and gentle movement of the cruise made it a shared moment of quiet enjoyment. It was about travelling at a pace that felt natural, especially while journeying with his parents. The intention was simple: to spend quality time together, move comfortably from one destination to another, and allow Kerala’s landscapes to unfold gently without pressure.

With all arrangements handled by Thrillophilia, the family began an eight-day journey that moved thoughtfully through hills, forests, backwaters, cliffs, and beaches. Every part of the trip felt measured and balanced, making it easy for all age groups to enjoy the experience fully.

When the Hills of Munnar Set the Tone

The journey began in Kochi, where the family was picked up for their drive to Munnar. Almost immediately, the pace of life began to slow. The road wound through greenery, and the first major pause came at Neriamangalam Bridge, where the Periyar River flowed steadily below. Standing there, watching the water move calmly, felt like a quiet welcome into Kerala.

As the drive continued, stops at Cheeyappara Waterfalls and Valara Waterfalls added a refreshing touch. The sound of water crashing against rocks, combined with the surrounding greenery, washed away any lingering travel fatigue. These pauses were not rushed, allowing the family to enjoy the scenery without feeling hurried.

By the time they reached Munnar, the change in atmosphere was unmistakable. Cooler air, misty hills, and endless tea plantations created an immediate sense of calm. The first evening was spent settling in, enjoying the quiet surroundings, and simply resting.

The following day was dedicated to exploring Munnar in a relaxed manner. Visits to the Tata Tea Museum offered insight into the region’s tea-growing heritage, while a stop at a local chocolate factory added a light, enjoyable break. Offbeat spots like open grasslands and scenic viewpoints allowed the family to pause and admire how effortlessly beautiful the landscape felt. What stood out most was the absence of rush. Munnar revealed itself slowly, and that was exactly what made it special.

Forest Calm and Spices in Thekkady

Leaving the hills behind, the family travelled onwards to Thekkady, where the scenery transformed into dense forests and spice-scented air. The drive itself felt peaceful, with greenery stretching endlessly on both sides.

At Periyar Lake, they boarded a boat for a calm ride through forested surroundings. The experience was defined by silence, broken only by birdsong and the gentle movement of water. Wildlife sightings were secondary to the feeling of being surrounded by nature in its purest form. It was an experience that encouraged quiet observation rather than excitement.

Later, a visit to a spice plantation added a sensory dimension to the day. Walking through the plantation, the family learnt about local spices like cardamom, pepper, and cinnamon, their aromas filling the air. The day ended on a restful note, with the family unwinding and enjoying the comfort of their stay.

Life Slows Down in Alleppey

From Thekkady, the journey led to Alleppey, where Kerala’s rhythm shifts noticeably. Boarding a traditional houseboat felt like stepping into a different world altogether. As the boat glided through narrow canals, coconut palms leaned overhead, and village life unfolded quietly along the banks.

Children waved from the shore, fishermen cast their nets, and birds skimmed the water’s surface. Meals served on board were simple, freshly prepared, and comforting. The service felt warm and attentive, adding to the overall ease of the experience.

As evening approached, the houseboat slowed and eventually rested on still waters. The night was deeply peaceful, marked by gentle breezes and the quiet sounds of nature. It was one of those moments where conversation naturally faded, replaced by shared silence and contentment.

The next day allowed the family to explore Alleppey beyond the backwaters. A visit to the Alleppey Lighthouse and nearby beaches offered a glimpse into the town’s coastal character, rounding out their experience beautifully.

Beaches, Cliffs, and Coastal Evenings

The journey then moved towards Varkala, a destination that felt refreshing and open. Walking along the cliffs, watching waves crash below, and breathing in the sea air became one of the quieter highlights of the trip. Varkala’s clean surroundings and relaxed atmosphere made it easy to slow down even further.

A stop at the Jatayu Earth’s Center added a cultural and mythological pause to the journey. The drive felt reflective rather than rushed, filled with soft conversations and memories of the days gone by.

For Ketan Shah, this trip stood out not because it was extravagant, but because it was comfortable, safe, and thoughtfully managed. The driver’s polite and calm nature, clean vehicles, reliable transfers, and decent hotel stays ensured the journey remained smooth throughout. She hoped for smooth transfers, good hotels and a simple itinerary that would allow her family to enjoy Thailand without rushing. Thrillophilia turned that expectation into a well put together holiday that felt pleasant from the moment they arrived in Phuket.

The family travelled as a group of three. All of them had their own preferences, but the one thing they wanted most was reliability. After landing in Phuket, they were greeted by their private transfer exactly on time. This first moment set the tone. The drive from the airport to their hotel was calm and organised, allowing them to settle into holiday mode almost instantly.

Phuket Becomes Their Starting Point

Their first stay was at Days Inn by Wyndham Patong Beach. The room was clean, the ambience felt comfortable and the surroundings were lively enough to make the arrival day exciting without being tiring. For Sreya, this hotel worked perfectly as a starting point. The staff were polite, and the check-in process was smooth, which helped the family ease into the rhythm of their holiday.

Patong’s atmosphere played a big role in their first evening. Streets lit with shops, cafes and markets added a cheerful energy. The family kept things simple and restful, saving their excitement for the next day.

A Beautiful Day Around Phi Phi

The second day brought one of the highlights of their holiday. The family boarded their shared speedboat for the Phi Phi Island tour. The water was clear and bright, the weather felt pleasant, and the limestone cliffs rising around the sea created a view they had only seen in photos before.

The tour leader gave helpful instructions, kept the group informed through the journey and made the transfers easy. The family enjoyed the experience of swimming, exploring nearby viewpoints and watching the island’s scenery from different angles on the boat.

Lunch was part of the tour, which meant they did not have to worry about arrangements. The family enjoyed the meal, although they felt it could be slightly improved. The day still remained memorable because the beauty of Phi Phi overshadowed everything else. For Sreya, this day remained the picture perfect part of the entire vacation.

A Change of Scenery as They Move to Krabi

On day three, Thrillophilia arranged a private transfer that took the family smoothly from their Phuket hotel to Krabi. The journey was comfortable and relaxed, letting them admire landscapes along the way. They checked into Apple A Day Resort, a modern and stylish property known for its youthful look and spacious rooms. This hotel turned out to be one of their favourites. The interiors were cheerful, the service was pleasant, and the rooms felt comfortable after long days of sightseeing.

That evening, they prepared for the second major activity of their holiday, the Seven Island Sunset Tour.

Seven Islands and a Sunset to Remember

The Seven Island tour introduced them to the calmer side of Krabi. The longtail boat ride, the soft movement of the waves and the warm sunset colours gave the family a peaceful experience. They visited multiple islands, each with its own charm. Crystal clear water, small coves and rocky landscapes created a variety of views.

One of the scenic stops allowed them to relax on the beach, where the sky slowly changed colours. The tour included a BBQ dinner served by the crew. The food was good, and the setting made the moment feel special. Watching the sunset from the boat while the islands turned into dark silhouettes was a lovely way to end the day.

Simple and Smooth Departures

The fourth day marked the final section of their holiday. Their private transfer from the Krabi hotel to the airport was punctual and comfortable. Even after landing in Bangkok for their connecting segment, they had a private vehicle waiting for them for four hours, ensuring they could move around without stress.

For Sreya, this level of coordination added immense value. She appreciated the fact that every pickup and drop-off was on schedule. There were no last-minute confusions, no unnecessary delays and no long waits. It made the entire holiday feel effortless.

What Stood Out for Sreya

Throughout the trip, hotel stays played an important role. Both properties were tidy, comfortable and placed in convenient locations. Breakfast was included and always served at the right time. The family enjoyed the variety, and the meals helped them start their days without searching for places to eat early in the morning.

The guided tours also added structure. The Phi Phi Island leader explained safety instructions and made sure the group remained comfortable. The Seven Island crew provided the right balance of assistance and freedom. These well-trained teams ensured that the family could enjoy their days without worrying about logistics.

The transfers remained one of the strongest elements of the package. Whether it was airport pickup, hotel shifting or intercity travel, Thrillophilia ensured that everything was arranged clearly. For a family travelling together, this lack of confusion made the experience satisfying.

What They Felt Could Be Enhanced

Although the family had a wonderful time, they felt that meals included with the excursions, especially lunch on the boat and dinner during the tours, could be made even better. They enjoyed the food served at the hotels more than the meals provided during the activities. This was not a complaint but a point they felt could improve the overall experience in the future.

A Holiday That Left a Smile

By the time Sreya Dutta and her family returned home, they looked back at their Thailand holiday with fondness. Thrillophilia delivered a well-timed itinerary, comfortable hotels, smooth transfers and reliable coordination. The family enjoyed the blend of adventure, beaches, sightseeing and relaxation.

For them, this trip created a set of happy memories and gave them the confidence to choose Thrillophilia again.

Read More: Thrillophilia Thailand Reviews

Gurdeep’s Family Escape with Thrillophilia: From Krabi’s Islands to Phuket’s Shores

Gurdeep’s family explores Thailand’s best, from Krabi’s stunning islands to Phuket’s vibrant shores, with Thrillophilia guiding every moment.

Thailand Reviews

Arpit Jain

Gurdeep Singh and his group of six were ready for a tropical adventure in Thailand, eager to explore the country’s famed beaches, vibrant streets, and scenic islands. The first day was intentionally left leisurely, giving the family time to recover from travel and soak in their surroundings. They strolled through Ao Nang, a quaint resort town, where colorful cafes, small shops, and lively streets offered a first glimpse of Thailand’s charm. Some opted for a refreshing swim at the Emerald Pool of Thung Teao Forest Natural Park, while others simply relaxed by the hotel, enjoying the serene tropical environment.

This day set the tone for a balanced vacation: a blend of relaxation, exploration, and time spent together as a family.

Seven Islands Sunset Tour: Adventure on the Water

On the second day, the family embarked on the highly anticipated Seven Islands Sunset tour. Boarding a long-tail boat early in the morning, they explored the surrounding islands in Krabi, marveling at turquoise waters, limestone cliffs, and hidden beaches. Snorkeling sessions allowed them to encounter vibrant marine life, while the children laughed and swam alongside colorful fish in shallow waters.

As the sun began to dip, the family witnessed a unique natural phenomenon: luminescent plankton glowing in the waters. This magical experience, combined with a hearty BBQ dinner on the boat, left everyone spellbound. Shared transfers and the friendly crew ensured a smooth and safe journey throughout the day, making it a standout experience in the family’s trip.

Transfer to Phuket: The Pearl of Andaman

After two days in Krabi, the family transferred to Phuket, checking into the Best Western Patong Beach Hotel. They wandered along the 2.5-kilometer Patong Beach, feeling the sand between their toes, and admired the sunset over the Andaman Sea. Though shorter in duration than the island tours, this city tour offered a well-rounded taste of Phuket’s history and contemporary life.

Departure: Memories to Last a Lifetime

The final day marked the conclusion of an eventful and memorable journey. Travelling with his family—Nageswara Rao Taddi, Sowmya Naidu Taddi, and one other—he was hoping for an experience that balanced relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion. With Thrillophilia handling the arrangements, the group set off on a nine-day journey across Phuket, Pattaya, and Bangkok, prepared to explore Thailand in comfort and style.

Arrival in Phuket: The First Impressions

The trip began with a smooth airport pickup in Phuket, which immediately set the tone for the holiday. The family appreciated how timely the private transfers were, noting that punctuality continued throughout the trip. After reaching the hotel, the family had the first day at leisure. They spent time exploring Bangla Road, known for its vibrant nightlife, but mostly enjoyed unwinding after the long journey. The evening offered a gentle introduction to the energy of Phuket—a mix of bustling streets, colourful lights, and the salty air of the Andaman Sea.

Phi Phi Island: The Crown Jewel

The second day proved to be the highlight of the trip. The family embarked on a speedboat excursion to the Phi Phi Islands. They visited Maya Bay and Loh Samah Bay, taking in the striking limestone cliffs and turquoise waters. The itinerary included Viking Cave and Monkey Island, where the children were fascinated by the playful long-tailed macaques. Amidst laughter, photographs, and shared meals on the boat, this excursion stood out as an immersive and memorable experience. Srikanth noted that the careful planning of the tour made it stress-free—every transfer, ticket, and activity was seamlessly organised.

The family particularly appreciated the shared transfers, which were smooth and well-coordinated, allowing them to focus entirely on the scenic views and adventure rather than logistics. This excursion became a treasured memory, often recalled during family conversations long after the trip ended.

A Mixed Experience in Phuket City

The half-day city tour in Phuket, however, did not impress everyone. While visiting Karon View Point, Wat Chalong Temple, and the Big Buddha Statue offered glimpses of Phuket’s culture and panoramic vistas, some family members felt that the city tour consumed too much time without delivering equivalent excitement. Despite this minor disappointment, the family still appreciated the convenience of private transfers and the friendly guidance from the staff.

The city tour allowed them to see local markets and architecture, giving a brief but authentic peek into the everyday life of Phuket. It was an informative day, albeit less thrilling than the previous day’s adventure.

Pattaya: A Mix of Leisure and Adventure

After flying to Bangkok and transferring to Pattaya, the family’s itinerary alternated between adventure and leisure. Tiger Park and the Sanctuary of Truth were standout experiences. At Tiger Park, the family got up close with majestic tigers in a controlled, safe environment, a novelty for both children and adults. The Sanctuary of Truth, with its intricate wooden carvings, offered insight into Thai art and culture.

A Coral Island tour added the adventure element. They enjoyed water sports, snorkelling, and beach exploration. The white sands and crystal-clear waters offered both relaxation and activity, allowing everyone to unwind while also indulging in adrenaline-pumping moments. Shared speedboat transfers were again appreciated for their efficiency, and the staff were consistently helpful in managing logistics.

Bangkok: City Life and Wildlife

The last leg of the journey in Bangkok combined urban exploration with wildlife experiences. The family enjoyed a visit to Underwater World, exploring marine life exhibits, followed by a dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya River. The evening cruise was a favourite moment, combining a scenic ride with Indian cuisine, which brought comfort and familiarity amidst exotic surroundings.

Another day was dedicated to Safari World and Marine Park, featuring elephant shows, dolphin performances, and an open safari drive. The children were particularly thrilled with the interactive experiences, while adults appreciated the well-coordinated schedule that allowed for both engagement and downtime.

Though the family found the Bangkok days slightly less thrilling than Phuket, they valued the balance of city tours, wildlife encounters, and riverfront relaxation.

Staff, Transfers, and Support: Seamless Execution

Throughout the nine days, the family repeatedly praised the Thrillophilia team. Pickups and drop-offs were consistently on time, and the drivers were friendly, professional, and accommodating. Despite minor hitches in city tours, the team’s constant support and organisation ensured that the trip progressed smoothly. Each hotel stay was comfortable, with convenient locations that reduced travel time and maximised sightseeing opportunities.

The family felt cared for at every stage. Tickets, meals, and transfers were arranged as promised, allowing Srikanth and his family to focus entirely on enjoying the trip. Even small details, like helpful staff at hotels and courteous guidance during excursions, enhanced the overall experience.

Reflections and Recommendations

Looking back, the Phi Phi Island tour stood out as the best experience, combining adventure, beauty, and convenience. The Coral Island visit and Safari World experience were also highlights. While Phuket city tours and some leisure days were slightly less engaging, these did not overshadow the overall success of the trip.

Srikanth concluded that the trip was well-planned and enjoyable, with four to five days being particularly well-organised and memorable. He would recommend Thrillophilia for families seeking both adventure and comfort, especially for those looking to explore Thailand with minimal logistical stress.

Final Thoughts: A Memorable Family Escape

Nine days in Thailand offered Srikanth’s family a balance of excitement, relaxation, and cultural exposure. The Hobbit Holes were all there, with their little round doors and perfectly kept gardens. They even got to visit The Mill and learn about the set’s history. For a while, they just wandered around in awe, as if they were hobbits themselves.

But they had to leave the magic of Hobbiton and head to Rotorua soon. Rotorua is famous for its geothermal activity, so they didn’t waste any time heading to Hell’s Gate Geothermal Park. It was surreal walking through an area with bubbling mud pools and steamy vents.

After a tour of the geothermal wonders, they headed to Lake Rotorua for a leisurely walk. The calm ambience of the lake was a contrast to the geothermal park they had just visited. They wrapped up their day with a visit to the Rotorua Museum, where they learned more about the town’s fascinating history.

Fjords, Fun, and Memories

They spent the next couple of days in Queenstown. Yash looked up from his camera and replied, “If paradise is full of adventure, then yes.”

Without wasting any time, they took a boat cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak High Country Farm. It was beautiful, peaceful, and surprisingly fun. They even got to feed some sheep, which was pretty entertaining. Yash, of course, had to ask the farmer, “So, do the sheep like tourists, or is that just a myth?” The farmer laughed and said, “Well, they’re used to the attention, but they’ll always prefer a snack over a selfie.”

Their favourite part about exploring Queenstown was the day trip to Fiordland National Park. They got a chance to experience the Milford Sound Cruise, and it was like nothing they had ever seen before. The fjords were massive, with towering cliffs and waterfalls cascading down. They had a great time watching seals relaxing on the rocks and dolphins swimming alongside the boat. Yash turned to Ram, smiling, “I don’t even know how to describe this. It’s just unreal.”

It felt as if they had entered a different dimension, surrounded by nature’s raw beauty. From the calm streets of Auckland and the lush green landscapes of Rotorua to the adventures in Queenstown, it was a journey they would always remember.

As they headed back to the hotel on their last night, Yash gave Ram a high-five. “Best trip ever,” he said. Ram couldn’t agree more.

If Thrillophilia were a person, they would have high-fived it as well. They had always been close, yet this trip felt like a reminder of how deeply they understood each other. As they filled out their immigration forms, Aishwarya asked if he had packed their travel adaptor. Akshaya grinned with sleepy confidence and announced that he had packed six power banks to be safe. She laughed and shook her head, amused at how predictably prepared he always liked to be.

The humidity outside felt like a warm embrace as they stepped into Tokyo. Their luggage arrived quickly, and soon they were on the hotel shuttle. The city lights flickered past the window while the usual travel anxiety slowly melted away. Akshaya leaned over with a playful high five and told his sister that they were really here. It was a simple moment, but it set the tone for the entire journey.

Tokyo and Osaka Creating Lifelong Memories

Their first day in Tokyo became an easy blend of wandering, conversation and discovery. Aishwarya and Akshaya began their exploration with Asakusa and Sensoji Temple, soaking in the golden glow of the Kaminarimon gate. Akshaya even posed dramatically, asking if he should wish for better grades. She nudged him and encouraged him to aim higher, and their laughter echoed down the temple street. They stumbled into a tiny back alley curry shop where the chef moved with impressive flair, and their first Japanese meal became a celebration of the journey ahead.

The next day took them to Yoyogi Park with bentō boxes and sodas. Surrounded by ancient ginkgo trees and soft cherry blossoms, they talked about everything from college to work to the uncertainties that usually stayed unspoken. When Akshaya asked his sister if she regretted moving abroad, she replied that she never did, although she wished he had visited more often. He reached out, smiled and reminded her that he was here now. Later, during their time in Harajuku and Omotesando, they bought quirky souvenirs and laughed over a vinyl hat that Akshaya insisted on paying for.

Their third day carried the chaos and charm of Shibuya and Shinjuku. The siblings joined the famous Shibuya Scramble, surrounded by a sea of people moving in every direction. Aishwarya captured a photo of Akshaya effortlessly blending into the crowd. That night, they found themselves singing old Bollywood songs in a karaoke corner high above the city. They were off key and loud, but the freedom of the moment made it unforgettable. Akshaya insisted that they bring their cousins next time, a suggestion that made both of them smile.

Tokyo Disneyland brought out their inner children. They raced through Space Mountain, braved Splash Mountain, and wiped tears during the evening parade. Akshaya bought Aishwarya mouse ears, while she bought him a lightsaber in return. During dinner, surrounded by glowing lanterns, he thanked her for the trip. She squeezed his hand and told him that he was always her partner in crime. Their day ended with fireworks over the castle, a moment that felt suspended in time.

On the fifth morning, they boarded the Shinkansen to Osaka. The smooth speed of the train felt surreal as Tokyo faded behind them. Osaka greeted them with softer air and a more comforting pace. They dropped their bags and immediately headed to Dotonbori. The bright signs shimmered on the canal water, and they shared spicy takoyaki that made both of them laugh and cry at the same time.

Their day in Osaka unfolded with calm reflection. At Osaka Castle, they wandered through gardens filled with koi ponds and lush greenery. The stories of samurais and battles fascinated them, and they found themselves imagining the history that had once filled those walls. Later at the Umeda Sky Building, they sipped mochaccinos high above the glowing skyline. There was something peaceful about sharing silence while looking at the world from so far up.

As their time in Osaka came to an end, they boarded the Shinkansen back to Tokyo. Through the train window, the landscape passed by like a moving memory. Rice paddies blurred into tiny villages and distant peaks. Akshaya finally asked if they could make trips like this every two years, and Aishwarya promised him that they would. The agreement felt like a new tradition forming between them.

Back in Tokyo, the siblings checked into the same hotel where everything had begun. The city felt familiar now, as if it had quietly woven itself into their bond.

A Goodbye Filled With New Understanding

Their final morning in Japan arrived with a gentle stillness. They rode the airport shuttle together, both lost in their thoughts about the past week. At a quiet cafe in Narita Airport, they ordered hot chocolates and sat without filling the silence. Aishwarya studied her brother’s face and realised that something in their relationship felt richer now, more layered than before.

As they waited to board, Akshaya held her hand and thanked her for the ride, a simple sentence that carried every emotion he could not put into words. It is when the world slows down collectively and calendars are near full, but hearts are wide open. That marginal space between Christmas and New Year’s feels reflective, nostalgic, and deeply alive. That was when Anjali and her younger sister decided to do something they had never done before: pack light and travel heavy.

So we booked a year-end escape to Bangkok with Thrillophilia, a decision that felt impulsive and perfect at the same time.

In December 2024, they flew out. It was hard to believe. Debasree, her husband, their five-year-old daughter, and her in-laws were venturing into the land of sushi, shrines, and surprise deer encounters.

Japan seemed so distant, so orderly, so different from the chaos of their usual family holidays. But it was happening, and they were honestly thrilled.

With a trip planned through Thrillophilia, everything was laid out for them—hotel bookings, transfers, activities and all they had to do was show up. The most thrilling part was experiencing Japan like never before, without the stress of planning each detail themselves.

Tokyo and Lots of Sushi

The family touched down in Tokyo, ready to tackle the adventure head-on. Tokyo was a neon-lit city blinking like it was on caffeine, streets bustling with people moving at the speed of light, and service at every turn felt almost robotic.

Japanese breakfast buffets were not for the faint of heart. While the in-laws were still figuring out how to pronounce "miso soup," their daughter, adventurous as ever, was already deep into her sushi obsession. Raw fish for breakfast was her ideal start. Meanwhile, Debasree and her husband admired the tempura with a level of awe usually reserved for fine art.

Tokyo offered everything: shopping, shrines, and vending machines that seemed impossibly complex. The in-laws spent half an hour figuring out how to buy a bottle of water from one. Meanwhile, their daughter was mesmerised by the local cats in cafes.

Hiroshima and Unexpected Philosophy

Their next stop was Hiroshima. The Peace Memorial Park left the family speechless. Walking through it, they felt the weight of the city’s tragic past.

On Miyajima Island, they encountered the local deer. They admired the paper lanterns hanging above small restaurants. “This already feels like the best trip,” she whispered. Ajaykumar smiled quietly, thinking to himself, Just wait for your birthday.

A Date with Mount Fuji

The next morning, they set out to visit Mount Fuji. The view of the red pagoda framed by cherry blossoms, with Mount Fuji in the background, looked spectacular.

As the sun began to set, they stopped at Gotemba Outlets. The warm tropical air greeted them as they stepped off the plane, carrying the faint scent of jasmine and salt from the nearby coast. It was the start of an adventure that promised both excitement and serenity, a chance to experience Thailand’s vibrant culture, golden temples, and pristine beaches.

Their journey began in Bangkok, a city alive with energy. The streets buzzed with tuk-tuks, motorcycles, and the chatter of locals and tourists alike. Their first days were spent exploring the city’s iconic landmarks. The Grand Palace stood resplendent under the sun, its intricate architecture and golden spires reflecting centuries of history. At Wat Pho, they admired the immense reclining Buddha, its serene expression capturing a timeless sense of calm. Evenings were spent navigating bustling night markets, tasting local delicacies, and sampling fresh tropical fruits. Balaji and Divya discovered small hidden cafés tucked between the crowded streets, where the aroma of street food mingled with the laughter of locals and travellers.

After a few days in Bangkok, they were whisked away to the islands. The journey across Thailand’s turquoise waters was mesmerising, revealing a coastline of cliffs, white sand beaches, and vibrant coral reefs. At Krabi, the limestone cliffs rose dramatically from the sea, framing beaches that seemed almost unreal in their beauty. Balaji and Divya spent hours kayaking through mangrove forests and exploring hidden lagoons, the calm water reflecting the bright sky above. Snorkelling offered encounters with colourful fish, swaying coral, and the gentle rhythm of waves that seemed to carry them into another world.

Phuket was a lively contrast, with its mix of quiet bays and bustling markets. The friends visited Big Buddha, perched atop Nakkerd Hill, where panoramic views stretched across the city and the Andaman Sea. The island’s local markets offered everything from handcrafted souvenirs to aromatic street food, and evenings were filled with the sounds of live music and laughter. They joined a cooking class to learn the secrets behind classic Thai dishes, enjoying the delicate balance of flavours, spices, and aromas. Sharing their creations, they laughed over small mishaps and delighted in the simple joy of preparing food together.

The journey also included a day rip to Phi Phi Islands, famous for their crystal-clear waters and striking limestone cliffs. Balaji and Divya explored hidden coves, relaxed on quiet beaches, and swam in water so clear that the marine life seemed suspended in air. Each stop was an opportunity to capture photographs, but they also paused often to simply absorb the scenery, feeling the warmth of the sun and the gentle rhythm of the waves. The natural beauty, combined with the friendly locals and vibrant culture, created a sense of timelessness that made every moment memorable.

Throughout the trip, the planning by Thrillophilia made the experience effortless. Flights, transfers, and tours ran seamlessly, allowing them to focus on the journey itself rather than logistics. Each destination was paced perfectly, providing enough time to explore, relax, and immerse themselves in the local culture without ever feeling rushed. From bustling city streets to tranquil beaches, every day felt like a carefully choreographed adventure.

Their evenings were often quiet, spent reflecting on the day’s experiences. They witnessed the dedication of monks at temples, the skill of artisans in small workshops, and the warmth of people whose friendliness earned Thailand its title as the Land of Smiles.
