A Perfect Blend of Adventure and Romance: Rohini’s Iceland Honeymoon with Thrillophilia

My husband, Rishi, and I have always been partners in everything—whether it’s sharing responsibilities or making decisions together. When it came time to plan our wedding, I took the lead, and Rishi happily took charge of organizing our honeymoon, as he’s the one who loves travel and adventures.
We both share a deep love for nature and since I had never experienced snow before, Rishi chose Iceland as our honeymoon destination. The stunning aurora lights, snow-covered peaks, and breathtaking cities were exactly what we were looking for. Amid the wedding rush, Rishi decided to plan the trip through Thrillophilia, ensuring everything would be flawless. And they truly exceeded our expectations, turning our honeymoon into an unforgettable journey full of beautiful memories.

Trip's Most Magical Moment
The day we experienced the Northern Lights was the best moment of our trip. We began our adventure in the morning, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking beauty of Skaftafell National Park, where the glaciers and dramatic landscapes left us in awe. The scenic boat ride around Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon felt like something out of a dream.
But the real magic happened later that night. After a long day of adventure, we returned to Reykjavik, but not before stopping at Diamond Beach where we were about to witness the most magical phenomenon of nature. The sight of huge chunks of ice glittering against the black sand was surreal. While soaking in the sights we suddenly spotted the Northern Lights dancing across the sky—green and pink hues swirling above us. It felt like the universe was sharing its most beautiful secret with us. I held Rishi’s hand, and we just stood there in awe, savouring every second of the wonder before us.

The Blue Wonders of Iceland
Given the awe-inspiring beauty of Iceland’s scenery and the incredible marine life we encountered, "Magical Land" would have been a much better name for the destination. The experiences unfolded like a fairytale, leaving me in awe as I gazed at the snow-capped landscapes all around us. We went for a whale-watching tour with Elding Whale Watching in Reykjavík. It was my first time seeing whales in their natural habitat, and it was awe-inspiring.
As we sailed across Iceland’s crystal-clear waters, we watched these majestic creatures breaching and splashing against the stunning backdrop of the coast. The landscape around us—snow-covered mountains and sprawling ocean—was equally mesmerizing, and the gentle rocking of the boat added to the excitement of the tour.

Another standout moment was taking in the beauty of the famous Blue Lagoon. The moment I stepped into the warm, turquoise waters, I felt all my stresses melt away. The water, heated by volcanic activity, was like liquid silk, and as I soaked in its warmth, I felt completely rejuvenated. The surrounding landscape, with its rugged lava fields and steam rising from the waters, was surreal. We decided to indulge in a relaxing sauna and a special face mask treatment that left my skin glowing. It was all so relaxing and to be honest romantic as well!
To top off our day, we had an amazing dinner at one of the Blue Lagoon's restaurants. With the peaceful glow of the lagoon surrounding us, we sipped on fine wine and enjoyed each other's company. It was a simple moment, yet so perfect—just us, the soothing ambience of the lagoon, and the quiet hum of the water. We shared stories, laughed, and celebrated the beauty of the day.

The Majestic Waterfalls & Sunsets
One of the most memorable moments that I had was while witnessing the cascading waterfalls and sunset with Rishi. It was, without a doubt, the most romantic moment of our entire trip. As we stood there, immersed in the beauty of the cascading waterfalls and the vibrant hues of the sunset, everything felt perfect. It was a moment of pure connection and serenity, one that I'll always cherish with Rishi.
We went on the Golden Circle tour, which gave us the feeling of being in a picturesque postcard. Thingvellir National Park blew us away with its fascinating geological formations and its rich history. But it was Gullfoss Waterfall that stole our hearts — the way the water cascaded down in two stunning drops felt like a scene from a dream.

Next, we visited the Geysers. Watching Strokkur erupt every few minutes felt like nature’s own show, and we were so happy to experience it together. Then came the unforgettable experience of the Midnight Sun. The sun barely set, casting this golden glow over everything, making it feel like time stood still, just for us.
We then ventured to the South Coast, where we were mesmerized by the mighty Skógafoss Waterfall. We even saw a rainbow in its mist! It didn’t stop at that, the stunning Black Sand Beach, with its dramatic basalt columns and volcanic sands, felt like another world and exploring the Eyjafjallajokull glacier, with its silent, icy beauty, just felt magical.
Every moment felt like a romantic adventure, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect honeymoon adventure. The trip was a beautiful blend of experiences, and enjoying it all with Rishi made it even more special. We created memories that will forever hold a special place in our hearts as the perfect beginning to our married life.
