Love Amidst the Islands: Nirmit’s Honeymoon Trip to Seychelles with Thrillophilia

It started with a bet.
“You pick the destination,” my wife had said, smiling over the morning chai. “But if I do not like it, you are cooking dinner for a month.”
Nirmit smirked while his entrepreneurial brain already churning. “Deal.”
He had spent the rest of the afternoon researching and scrolling through destinations that could match his wife’s love for beaches and his craving for adventure. When he came across Seychelles, it clicked.
White sandy shores, emerald waters, Aldabra tortoises - it was perfect.
“You win,” my wife said a week later while staring at the brochure Nirmit had printed out. “But do not think that this gets you out of helping in the kitchen.”
The First Hug of Seychelles

Seychelles greeted them with a sunlit warmth that instantly melted away the exhaustion of travel. As their ferry to Praslin cut through sparkling waters, Nirmit’s wife leaned against the railing to scan the beautiful horizon.
“Did you know Seychelles is called the ‘Pearl of the Indian Ocean’?” she asked.
“I figured it out the moment I saw you under this sun,” Nirmit replied.
After checking into their cosy resort, they decided to explore Côte d’Or Beach. The soft sand beneath their feet and the rhythmic crash of waves set the tone for what was to come. They wandered aimlessly, soaking in the golden sunset and marvelling at how untouched everything felt.
Nirmit and his wife also visited one of the most beautiful beaches in the world - Anse Lazio. From the shores of the beach, they watched the sun dip below the horizon. The beach was a picture of perfection, with its dramatic granite boulders and clear waters inviting them to stay a little longer.
Into the Heart of Nature

One of the highlights of their time in Praslin was exploring the Vallée de Mai. When they walked through this ancient forest that remains surrounded by tall Coco de Mer palms, they felt as if they had stepped into a prehistoric world. The air was heavy with the scent of damp earth and foliage, and the occasional call of a black parrot reminded them of the rare ecosystem they were privileged to witness.
The Coco de Mer trees were fascinating. Their distinctively shaped fruits and massive fan-like leaves had an almost mythical quality. It was here that I truly felt the magic of Seychelles - a place where nature thrives in its purest form.
Cycling Through La Digue
Their day trip to La Digue Island was a journey into simplicity. From the moment they picked up their bicycles at the jetty, his wife’s excitement was infectious. They pedalled through winding paths lined by palm trees. At Anse Source d’Argent, the famous granite boulders and shallow crystalline waters stopped them in their tracks.

“Picture time,” Nirmit declared, setting up his phone for a selfie.
“You are getting good at this,” his wife teased, admiring his effort.
The day ended at L’Union Estate, where they learned about the history and traditional copra production of the island. As the sun dipped below the horizon, they cycled back to the jetty, exhausted but excited.
Island Hopping and Encounters with Giants
Our next adventure was a day of island-hopping around Cousin, Curieuse, and St. Pierre. Cousin Island is a bird sanctuary, and it is actually a haven of biodiversity. We walked along its quiet trails to spot vibrant birds and the occasional Hawksbill Turtle lounging on the beach. The serenity of the place was unmatched. It felt like nature had been left to its own devices, thriving in harmony.

Curieuse Island was another wonderful place. Known for its giant Aldabra tortoises, it was a dream to see these gentle giants closely. Their slow and deliberate movements and the way they seemed unbothered by human presence were mesmerising. Additionally, the distinctive red soil and mangrove forests of the island made every step an exploration.
We ended the day snorkelling around St. Pierre Island. Beneath the surface, a vibrant world of coral reefs and marine life awaited us. It was as though we had stumbled into an underwater paradise, with schools of colourful fish darting around and the coral shimmering in the filtered sunlight.
A Taste of Mahe

When they transitioned to Mahe, the vibrancy of the island was a delightful contrast to the serenity of Praslin. Their sightseeing tour began at the Takamaka Rum Distillery, where the sweet and potent aroma of rum filled the air.
“Let us try this one,” his wife suggested, pointing to a dark amber bottle.
Nirmit took a sip and raised an eyebrow. “This could convert me into a rum lover.”
They moved on to the Seychelles Tea Factory, where his wife’s love for tea deepened with each blend she sampled. By the time they reached the Seychelles National Botanical Gardens, she had an armful of souvenirs, including tea and spices.

“Are you starting a tea shop back home?” Nirmit teased.
A Farewell, Not Goodbye
As their honeymoon came to an end, Nirmit and his wife reflected on how effortlessly Seychelles had woven itself into their story. Thrillophilia took care of every detail, allowing them to focus entirely on each other and the experiences that unfolded around them. From the seamless transfers to the thoughtfully curated itinerary, every moment felt tailored to perfection.
Seychelles became a memory, a feeling, a chapter that we would revisit time and again. As the ferry carried them back to Mahe for their flight home, Nirmit and his wife sat in silence to watch the islands fade into the horizon.

The unspoken understanding between them was clear - this was not goodbye. It was simply "until next time."
